This page explains what happens to information you enter into the Building Insights Together (BIT) platform. It is short on purpose — the practices are straightforward and we want them to be equally clear.
What we store
When you use the platform, your account email, name, and the messages you send to agents are saved in our database. This is what lets you resume past conversations, keep a history of your work, and pick up where you left off across sessions. Lab notebook entries, training progress, and agent customizations are stored for the same reason — the platform needs them to function.
We do not monitor your conversations
No one at BIT reads your agent conversations. Conversations are not screened, reviewed, or analyzed by staff. There is no surveillance, no content moderation pipeline, and no human in the loop on your interactions with agents. The messages exist in the database as an operational record — they are not read unless you specifically ask for support and grant access to your account.
Operational logging
Conversations are logged in the database as part of normal operations. The platform writes each message to provide the service — session continuity, agent context, and error recovery. Standard infrastructure logs (request timing, error traces) are also generated by the hosting provider for reliability purposes. These logs are operational, not behavioral — they exist to keep the system running, not to track what you do.
Where inference happens
The BIT application itself is hosted in Toronto, Canada. However, the AI models that generate agent responses are served by third-party inference providers located in various regions around the world. When you send a message, the text of that message is transmitted to whichever provider serves the model for that request, and that processing may occur outside of Canada. The providers are contractually prohibited from using BIT data to train their models. We cannot guarantee the physical location of processing for any individual request.
Retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you want your conversation history or account deleted, contact the platform administrator and it will be removed from the database.
Questions
If something here is unclear or you want to know more about how your data is handled, ask the platform administrator directly. This page will be updated if practices change.
